Overview

Assisted in upgrading a largely static website to automate scheduling, booking, and payments for rental property to assist customer in cutting costs associated with manual client interaction.

Client Background

Vernon Properties, LLC is a small vacation property rental company in Washington state. They had an existing website (EnjoyMayfield.com) that showcased their existing property, but was somewhat limited. They were handling all scheduling and billing over the phone, and the existing website left no room for adding more properties.

Project Overview

Vernon Properties wanted their website updated to allow potential renters to see more details about their property (and potentially other properties), view availability of properties, and fully book properties through the website without any manual employee actions.

Boxware, LLC subcontracted the back-end development work on this project to me (I was not hired directly by this client). Boxware, LLC handled front-end web design and coordinating with the client.

• Added support for managing multiple properties
• Added support for end-user booking and payment processing
• Added scheduling calendar (integrated with end-user booking)
• Assisted Boxware, LLC with various image carousels and sliders written in JavaScript/jQuery
• Assisted Boxware, LLC with various other minor functionality improvements

Impact

Upon completion of the website redesign, the Enjoy Mayfield website was fully automated and only required employee interaction for special requests such as clarification, rescheduling bookings, or returns. The full automation of scheduling and bookings was responsible for a substantial savings in man-hours.
